After getting a site visitor’s attention, the tricky part is to give out the message that your website and your brand are trustworthy. People, however practical they believe their choices are, in the end, are undeniably governed by one emotion- Trust. There is a chemical function to this emotion. The release of one chemical is where it all begins.

Last month when I set out on a quest to delve deeper into the art of understanding the consumer mind, I had no clue that Digital Psychology and Persuasion at CXL Institute ( https://cxl.com/ )will introduce me to some great concepts, books, and minds who have been studying this subject for years. Today I will talk about one of the first scientists to integrate neuroscience and economics into a new sphere that we refer to as Neuroeconomics today.

THE VAMPIRE ECONOMIST

Yes! You read that right. No! let us not get reminded of the Vampire Sagas, focus.

Zak’s studies involved collecting blood samples from people who participated in trust-based games. He examined these samples based on the subject’s decisions made in the game to determine what is in the human brain that directs them to trust and doubt certain things without knowing the subject/object in the picture. The secret is the star-chemical again, Oxytocin.

His book ‘THE MORAL MOLECULE’ discusses this theory in-depth and is already taking me through moments of “Whoa! What?”. Give it a shot, and I assure you it will change your perspective towards human behavior. Until you get your hands on the book, here is a link for you
